News and information from a Galaxy Far Far Away, and sometimes a little closer to home.
According to Jedi News a very reliable source has revealed to them that all six Star Wars movies will be receiving a digital release for the first time in November 2014, as Lucasfilm have now finished digitising the complete saga.

Additionally, the report suggests that even more previously unseen footage has been unearthed and will be also released. There is little information available at the moment though, so hopefully something more concrete is confirmed soon!

A source has told Variety that Girls actor Adam Driver has been cast as the main villain for Star Wars Episode VII.

If true, this would be the first cast member announced for Star Wars: Episode VII which is due to start filming at Pinewood Studios in April, just two months away.

Driver would reportedly take on a similar role to that of classic Star Wars trilogy villain Darth Vader, and the delayed decision was due to scheduling conflicts with his current television roles for HBO's Girls which have now been resolved. Variety's source has said that the deal has not yet been finalised but should go through in the next few days.

In addition to Driver's role as Hannah's boyfriend on the hit HBO drama, his other credits include Inside Llewyn Davis and Frances Ha, and is currently filming Warner Bros' Midnight Special.

So far the only officially confirmed character for Episode VII is R2-D2.

    Malcolm Tierney dies aged 75

    By Andy, in General News,

English actor Malcolm Tierney who played an Imperial officer on the Death Star in the original Star Wars movie has passed away aged 75.

In Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope Lieutenant Shann Childsen was immortalised with the words "Where are you taking this... thing?" as Han Solo and Luke Skywalker attempted to gain access to detention block AA-23 on board the Death Star.

Any contribution to Star Wars, no matter how small, is sure to resonate with fans around the world, and we are sad to report that Malcolm Tierney, who portrayed the character, has passed away aged 75. Tierney had many roles in British and international television and movies, and can also be seen in the 1986 Doctor Who serial Trial of a Time Lord, and on the big screen in Braveheart.

    Rest in peace Malcolm Tierney, 25 February 1938 - 19 February 2014.

Hera, pilot of the Ghost, is the final character to be revealed from the starship crew of Star Wars: Rebels.

Twil'lek pilot Hera Syndulla, is a strong-minded character who will help keep the group from falling apart according, to Dave Filoni, she is "the heart of the group".

Vanessa Marshall, who has lent her voice to many video game and animated characters over the years, will voice the character.

Auctioneers at Vectis Auctions got more than they bargained for when an original packaged 1980 Empire Strikes Back Palitoy action figure, FX-7 (Medical Droid), sold for £7,000 (US $11,662), over 100 times the asking price.

The seller was understandably delighted with the record breaking sale, which was one of several Star Wars figure lots up for sale that day. An Imperial Commander figure sold for £3,000 and Darth Vader was snapped up for a modest £2,250.

A representative of the auction house said that surprises like this were not all that uncommon, as all it takes is for an avid collector to need those few missing models to complete their collections.

New reports suggest that lightsaber props are currently being created for use in Star Wars Episode VII.

It was inevitable that the new Star Wars movie would mean new lightsabers, but new information suggests that prop artists are hard at work constructing new Jedi weapons for use in the upcoming filming due to start later this year.

The report from Den of Geek indicates that security has stepped up at Pinewood Studios as construction begins on not only props but sets, too. Well, one set in particular: It was rumored a long while back that a full-scale set of the Millennium Falcon had been designed, and it is now rumored to be being assembled at the studio.

There has also been news that much of the model making crew has been hired on 7-year contracts, lending weight to the theory that director JJ Abrams wants a sequel trilogy that is more authentic to the classic Star Wars trilogy, with more practical effects.

In case you haven't quite had your fill of Star Wars: Rebels news, another character has been revealed.

Sabine is the groups weapons expert, a human female clad in pink mandalorian armor, and is voiced by Tiya Sircar.

The artistic warrior who customised her own armor also tags locations the crew of the Ghost hits in their fight against the Empire. "The Imperials will always know when the Rebels have attacked," says executive producer Dave Filoni, "she'll use her blaster and blast the Phoenix onto the wall."

Zeb from Star Wars: Rebels revealed!

    By Andy, in Television,

Zeb is the latest Rebels character to be revealed for Disney's upcoming animated series.

Zeb Orrelios has been described as "the muscle" of the crew of the Ghost, and will be voiced by veteran anime and video game voice actor Steve Blum.

Blum spoke to IGN about his reaction to being cast in Star Wars: Rebels.

Blum adds Rebels to his extensive list of voice credits, which includes everything from Cowboy Bebop to Wolverine and the X-Men, and even several other Star Wars titles including Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and The Force Unleashed.

Zeb's species is so far unknown, but is based on the original Ralph McQuarrie concept art for Chewbacca.

Hasbro have reportedly been told to stop making action figures of characters from the Expanded Universe.

According to a report from Jedi Temple Archives, Lucasfilm has informed Hasbro to stop making new expanded universe figures, or even re-releasing old ones. So far there are only a few exceptions to this instruction; rereleases of Bastila Shan, Darth Malgus, Republic Trooper, and Starkiller have all been given the go-ahead due to poor distribution on their original run.

Hasbro will instead be focusing on the new Star Wars: Rebels line and classic trilogy characters, and while the prequel era is not off-limits we can expect to see a decrease in activity there too.

It could be that this is just a precaution while the Lucasfilm Story Group consolidates canon into one cohesive continuity, but it does seem to back up earlier rumours that the Star Wars expanded universe as we know it has its days well and truly numbered.
