Celebration Anaheim attendees were treated to a special teaser of upcoming spin-off Star Wars: Rogue One this weekend.
Speaking at Celebration Kathleen Kennedy and director Gareth Edwards revealed new information about the upcoming spin-off, which has only one cast member confirmed so far - Felicity Jones, who will allegedly play a Rebel soldier.
Those attending the panel were also treated to a special teaser trailer which has leaked online, which confirms the setting as being pre-A New Hope, with a plot revolving around Rebel Alliance forces retrieving the plans for the first dreaded Death Star. The teaser trailer is at this stage more of a concept reveal, as the film has not yet started shooting, but is certain to whet the appetites of eager fans.
Edwards also stated to fans that "the absence of the Jedi is omnipresent in the film. It hangs over the whole movie", and further elaborated that the difference between the good guys and the bad guys may not be so clear cut.
The spin-off movies will be known as 'Anthology' films and will be stand alone features that form part of the official canon but do not rely on the core characters of the main Star Wars saga.
Rogue One is currently scheduled for release on 16 December 2016.
