Mara 29 Posted May 27, 2009 Yeah, but, as far as I could tell watching GameCast online.... they were playing a lot better this time. And that's all I could hope for. I'd much rather lose trying our best, than lose playing like chumps. The Pens deserve this one. I only wish we decided to play like this starting in game 1. Our defense was much better tonight, but it just wasn't enough. I think Ward was our problem. Him and his mysterious injury. *sigh* *shaves beard* Oh, well. PENS FOR THE CUP!!!!! Uncle Du 22 Posted May 27, 2009 The Pens deserve this one. Oh, well. PENS FOR THE CUP!!!!! Would it be possible for a temp ban for words of this nature spoken in this thread. :p
Princess 35 Posted May 27, 2009 *finger hovers over the ban button* And okay, okay, a good bench clearing brawl still gets me going but I just wish that the refs would call stuff consistently instead of letting someone get away with delivering 3 crosschecks into the back of a player and then calling a weak interference call
Uncle Du 22 Posted May 27, 2009 I can agree with the consistency thing. I don't give a crap how dirty the game is, as long as it's called fairly. But hey, we can't have that in this league! Now we get to watch a repeat of last year, and watch the refs try and give the penguins the Cup.
Mara 29 Posted May 27, 2009 The Pens deserve this one. Oh, well. PENS FOR THE CUP!!!!! Would it be possible for a temp ban for words of this nature spoken in this thread. Nevar!!! My loyalties lie with the Eastern Conference. And any team playing against Detroit. ;)
Princess 35 Posted May 28, 2009 Pfffft! Even Du is cheering for the Wings. And Roy turned down the coaching job with the Avs
Uncle Du 22 Posted May 28, 2009 It comes down to the lesser of two evils, and being that I have to live with all these insufferable pittsburgh b******s, I'm staying true to MY conference. The last thing I wanna see is this city get two different championships in the same season.
Princess 35 Posted May 28, 2009 Besides, as one of my coworkers pointed out this morning, Detroit didn't even really try that hard against Chicago. As long as they decide to play and play hard Pittsburgh is going down. Not to mention Sid actually touched the Eastern Conference Trophy, so they're doomed. Mara 29 Posted May 28, 2009 It's a lame superstition anyway.
Princess 35 Posted May 28, 2009 You're just saying that because he broke tradition. Besides, there's no way the Pens are going to win unless it's some lame call or the Wings get seriously injured.
Mara 29 Posted May 29, 2009 No, I'm saying it because every year, both teams don't touch their trophy because they think they'll lose the Cup. When in reality, one of those teams WILL lose no matter if they touched or not. Anyway, I heard he touched it because he did last year, and they lost. So he figures, because he's superstitious, that he'll get a different result this year. And, honestly, I know the Pens are a lot better team than they were last year, so it won't be as easy to dispatch them.
Uncle Du 22 Posted May 29, 2009 (edited) Living in the area that I do, I get to hear about how much "better" the penguins are this year than last...someone please explain that to me. Is that just cause they swept in the conference championship? Cause I mean really, that was the lousiest series Carolina coulda played. Cause when we get down to it, they're the same damn team as last year, so yay, they have Guerin now, yipee. Yea, and a few others, whatever. What everyone seems to not realize (or want to think about), is that the Wings team in this final IS even better than last year, and IS better than the penguins. Even with OUT Datsyuk and Lidstrom. So can we just drop it about the penguins? They're gonna lose AGAIN, and we're stuck with the same bulls*** two years in a row. (and I'm sick of having to say that detroit is that good...damn team that somehow escaped the wrath of the hard salary cap) Yipee. Princess 35 Posted May 29, 2009 Yeah, not to mention that the Pens are the team that barely made the playoffs to begin with. In February they were in 10th place. Now they're the 4th seed. We let San Jose be the best because then there was no curse of the President's trophy.
Uncle Du 22 Posted May 29, 2009 Being the best team in the regular season doesn't really make a damn bit of difference. Playoff's are what matter. San Jose got cocky, and didn't bring it.
Mara 29 Posted May 29, 2009 All I'm saying is that some of the Pens players are playing better in these playoffs, than they did in last year's playoffs. Some of their key players were slumping last year. Now they're not. I know they're better than last year. Whether or not they're good enough to beat the Wings remains to be seen. Princess 35 Posted May 31, 2009 Hmmm, Penguins tied the Wings in shots and had the same amount of chances and the Wings still won 3-
Uncle Du 22 Posted May 31, 2009 Will this hockey season PLEASE end in a sweep?! ;)
