Sticks 1 Posted February 18, 2006 I actually wrote this as lyrics, but it's a poem nevertheless. Promising (a Lie) Eyes dripping with longing, Mouth sweet and full Lead me away to a Place none other go. My body your channel, To love and to pain Though mostly the latter Is all that you'll gain Promising to love Be loved and love still The truth that love Can never be real. This is the case I promise to you This is my lie and that much is true. Lead me away to a Place through the mist Your god gave you hope I gave a promise. Promising to love Be loved and love still The truth that love Can never be real Almost sadistic Perhaps that is true But this is the lie I promise to you. E-wing 3 Posted February 27, 2006 ok i don't really know what happened but i was feeling a little sad and lonely tonight as i try to finish some astro physics work. well i got distracked. my mind started to wonder. and for some reson i don't understand i sat down a did this. i think it's a poem but the poems i normally wright are short and ryming so i don't know for sure. it could be just rambleing..... well anyway here it is..... tell me what you people think.... ok? Alone Do you know what it?s like to be alone? Do you know what it feels like to have a single true friend? What it feels like when it seems there is but one person at your side? To lose that friend do to their inattentiveness or your own? Then to drift until a new friend comes only to have it happen again? Do you know what it?s like to be alone? Do you know what it feels like to have a loving family? What it feels like to be bonded by blood to someone until death? To have that death be theirs and not yours? Then to sit and wonder who and when the next one will be lost? Do you know what it?s like to be alone? Do you know what it feels like to share a room with someone? What it feels like to share the place you call home? To always have someone near regardless of desire? Then to have them move away leaving you to yourself? Do you know what it?s like to be alone? Do you know what it feels like to truly care for someone? What it feels like to give them your heart? To say that you love them and to hear it returned? Then to see them leave you because they stop feeling that way? Do you know what it?s like to be alone? Do you what it feels like to need talk to someone? What it feels like to be troubled and have no one notice? To force the issue into a conversation? Then to be ignored as if you said nothing of importance? Do you know what it?s like to be alone? Do you know what it feels like to walk the path of shadows? What it feels like to stand at the edge of the darkness that is true despair? To wish to return fully to the light of hope? Then to find that you have lingered so long that you can neither rise nor fall? Do you know what it?s like to be alone? I do.
Brumak 2 Posted September 28, 2006 Figured I'd revive this thread...too...seeing as how I made a poem-ish thing tonight. A time where existence is meaningless A place where meaningless is everything An aspect of truth where everything is miscontrued A false reality where everything is pure A purity where sins are holy The dimension where all things matter only to the creator The creator of a world his own Where else can truth be perfectly mixed with wishes Where is there another realm where thoughts rule all others Where....besides a dream... Brumak 2 Posted October 2, 2006 I've been havin a few weird things jump in my head lately...so I'll jot them down here. I've had this dream...of dreaming a dream... A dream where dreams collide A nightmare of slumber...this dreadful sleep... Where no place is safe to hide On the winds of sleep...these gusts of fiction... An aroma so pleasently acrid A decadence of thought...perversions of wishes... The volatile mind once placid --- Sleep...an alternate reality in a meaningless existence The dreams of a stagnant life-form leave nothing but wishes and shattered hopes Billions of mortals, each silently screaming in slumber Wishing for peace, fantasizing impossibilities These insignificant left-over thoughts, useful only for the mind to recreate Without them, without dreams, we become hollow With them, the make-believe world of a non-existant reality becomes falsely plausible We succumb to clinging onto mortality Why can slumber not be peaceful Why must it be tormented with torrents of lies Every dream brings one closer to insanity....a small step toward oblivion. --- Random and weird...yes...and they flood my mind when I'm attempting to sleep >_<
Princess 35 Posted May 8, 2009 A Moment of Melancholy I sit wondering How many times You?ll break My aching heart. How can I Love you so And feel So hurt today. I trusted you When you said You didn?t Want me hurt. Yet it seems That every day Something happens That hurts more. For three years I?ve waited for You to Let me in. Now when you Need me most I?m told To stay away. Things won?t get Easier anytime soon We need To capitalize now. Love is precious I will fight For you The Man I Love. Chickenman 9 Posted December 3, 2009 So my creative writing professor is a poet, which means I have to write a ton of poetry. And I didn't, so now it's all makeup work that I'm struggling to get in in the last three weeks of school. Below are the first three poems I've ever written that weren't dirty limericks. Poem #1 There’s a place I can’t quite place on a map Where the group with the funny name is killing the group whose name I can’t remember I remember learning a little about it I remember signing a petition, once Remember berating others for not taking notice For expressing their boring problems while others die. Just to sate my smug sense of superiority I haven’t donated a god-damned cent. I guess that’s what it means to live in the First World Concern yourself with an international crisis But only until the end of the commercial break Oh Simon Cowell, why not turn your acid soaked tongue upon us Rather than that glorified karaoke singer Berate us, Put us in our place For thinking we have problems while drinking water from a tap. Poem #2 I want to be Thurston Moore I want to innovate I want to inspire I want to be acclaimed I want. I want to be a wild man I want to be a poet I want to be a rock and roll star I wish some dweeby kid envied me I want to earn a biography I want the youthful zest for life you have after half a century That I don’t possess in my teenage years. I want to be a Sonic Youth I want to start a Teenage Riot Also, his wife is gorgeous. I mean damn. Poem #3 Hey there kid, could you spend a moment? No? I understand you have things to do. I wish I did. Feel free to avert your eyes As I dig through the trash for a half-empty cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee Mocha, vente, latte, de-caffeinated, they’re just words Beggars can’t be choosers There’s a half of a donut, and I’ve got reason to be thankful. Spare a moment? I don’t want money. I just want to talk to someone who doesn’t think me subhuman. I can see you’re busy. That iphone isn’t going to listen to itself You’ve got 5000 bittorrented songs. I’ve got the sounds of the city to lull me to sleep You talk to your girlfriends about shopping for shoes Why do you need more than one pair? I’ve doing just fine with these tatters around my ankles. You avert your eyes. I want to talk to someone who doesn’t think me subhuman

Princess 35 Posted December 29, 2009 I wrote this for my Grandma's funeral. A Dedication to my Grandma By Amanda Kay Mussell Though we’re here to say goodbye In our hearts you’ll always lie And while we find it hard to let you go In a better place you are, we know You saw the beauty in every day life It helped you through times of sorrow and strife In your life, you fought the good fight You fought that fight with all your might You always took care of everyone else As easily as taking a pulse You never let go of being a nurse Taking care of friends and family, for better or worse Then it became time for us to take care of you We did the best that we could do Then God called you home to His eternal bliss We said goodbye with a hug and a kiss Finally reunited with your true love We know that you watch down on us from above We know you’ll be watching us every day For you’ve joined the angels so faraway Though you’re not near, you’re still around With us in thoughts and sound Whether through song or the sight of a flower We know you’re near, in the peace of a rain shower When times get bad and we’re filled with fear We know you’ll make it better with an angel’s whisper in our ear Helping us through the good times and the bad Knowing you don’t want us to be sad You’ve become our angel to adore Waiting for us on God’s golden shore Grandpa met you at heaven’s door And told you “My dear, your suffering is no more.” So, while we miss you so We knew it was your time to go As you sit in heaven’s splendor You’re still our great defender With a tear we say good-bye We look for you now in the sky And while our lives won’t be the same We will forever carry your flame Watch down on us Grandma From heaven above We will miss you forever As we say good-bye with our undying love
