The fact that he was a Hitler Youth is insignificant if he did not hold true to the convictions of Hitler. Apparently he did not, otherwise he would show some very prominent anti-semetic views. He was forced to join the Hitler Youth, then he was drafted into the German Army. He didn't willingly support the Nazi party or Hitler.
