I weighed my dogs today. As it turns out, Ziggy is 36lbs, which is about what I expected her to be. Tag, on the other hand, is 66lbs, which is about 15lbs heavier than I thought he was. So now I have dogs in different weight classes for flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. The K9 Advantix goes up to 55lbs and the Intercepter goes up to 50lbs. That means I have to buy two sets. That stuff ain't cheap, yunno. *grumblegrowl*

Just a quick rant but one I really need to get off my chest.

I am so sick and tired of the contrite bullsith that people keep trying to feed me!

I get it, I'm overweight, I don't have a degree, I'm eccentric and I'm not expecting to have people throw themselves at me. But I am so sick of people pretending to want to date me or pretending to want a ewoking relationship only to tell me that they think I'm "a ewoking joke, too manly, or disgusting"!

If you don't want a relationship then why do you date me for three months? Why put yourself through the hassle of seeming to be interested only to tell the person *aka me* that it was all a joke and "you stupid ugly cow, why the ewok would you think anyone would be interested in you"?

Why ask me to be monogamous and then tell me to my face you're dating someone else who you're now engaged to and OH btw you're invited to the wedding? Seriously?

Why date me for 14 months *granted long distance* begging me to be faithful and telling me how much you love me and talking about wanting to be with me only to cheat on me with my best friend when you could have just ewoking asked her out to begin with? Then tell me I'm ridiculous for being upset?

Why lead me on for three years requesting to date me then turn around and tell me to my face that I am repulsive to them and that I'm nowhere near intelligent enough to date them but oh hunny it's ok... anyone would be blessed to date you.

Seriously?

I've had family and friends tell me for ewoking years that oh its just their loss, they're too stupid to know how amazing you are, they're regret it, you're so beautiful and smart and funny and one day you'll find that perfect person. If they're going to treat you like that then they don't deserve you. But you can only hear that so much before it just sounds like bullsith. Especially when it never gets better.

I wish work would learn how to schedule.

We are a store geared towards children. You'd think, as such, we would know when to staff and how many people to staff for when Wisconsin has it's big school conference, which means two days off of school for them. We just had this for Minnesota, and it was HELL. I was working 9 hour days (and being forced off the floor for an hour of it each time since that's company policy for breaks) with three other servers. Well, the obviously don't know since we had really, really poor planning today. We have four servers who can work during the day. Today, I was technically the only one who can normally work during the day, so I had my schedule changed (ON MY WAY IN TO WORK) so that I would be closing, since everyone else had to go to their other jobs. The first server was done right as I got there (which was an hour before she was scheduled), and she had to go to her other job. The other server who was there today was taking a group of 30 some girl scouts (in the middle of the EFFING dining room). At that point, I was taking every table that walked through the door (at lunch rush) which resulted in me getting 5 tables all at once. Once that fiasco was over, that server had to leave since she had another job to go to too. Right after she left, I was then given 10 tables at once. Which continued all through the rest of the evening. Not to mention the fact that my last table jumped from five people to eight people AND they were 30 minutes late because of car trouble. So, I didn't get a break today, I didn't get to enjoy my free food (and my Chinese is super late right now), and I had to clock out before my last table left...I didn't even get to finish tearing everything down. The only plus side was that I made decent money. Almost not worth it = \

I was scheduled to work 6-3 today. Thanksgiving is time and a half. My manager texts me yesterday afternoon and asks if I can work 3-11 instead...I HATE second shift...absolutely abhor, detest, dislike to the nth degree, second shift...apparently another associate signed for to T-day 1st shift, but the Assistant Manager did the schedule and scheduled her for 2nd...So, yesterday she decides she can't work it, has to be home to eat dinner with her family...I HATE second shift...So, I protested, I'm losing an hour off my schedule for the week and losing an hour of 1.5 time. So, I'm working 2-11 tonight... I go to bed at 9...I drag by 9 when I work seconds...

No worry, though, I need Wednesday off, so I can use this as leverage...

I work at Wawa, it's a convenience store in NJ, DE, PA, MD, and VA. soon to be FL, too. We have almost a normal day on Thanksgiving. Wawa is always busy. We're like 7-11...just fresher. 7-11's close where there's a Wawa nearby. It was time and a half, so will be Christmas Eve, New Years Eve and New Years Day. Christmas is Double time. My time of year to make money

I survived it, already used it as leverage, fell asleep sometime around midnight, and now I'm up cause my wife had to be at work at 5. (She also works at Wawa. We both had nine hour shifts yesterday and she also signed up for the other four holidays. w00t! we can use the extra money to pay a bill or two )

So last Thursday...I had reason to fear for my safety at work! The full account below.

So I was sent to fold clothes in the Misses section with ...Cheryl, I think her name was. The lady who always has her black dyed hair in a long ponytail and wears clothes that she shouldn't, and reeks of perfume, and makes weird noises constantly. Anyhoo, I was folding shirts on one of the displays, and then there's the announcement of a meeting at customer service. I lay the shirt down, intending to come back to it.

"DON'T START MESSING UP MY PILES! PEOPLE DID THAT TO ME LAST NIGHT, DON'T YOU MESS UP MY PILES!" she said, putting the shirt back with an irritated sigh. I told her that I hadn't known that she had already done that section of folding.

" I JUST GOT THOSE STRAIGHTENED UP, DON'T YOU MESS UP MY PILES!" she said, as we walked towards the customer service.

"If you're not going to work, just go on home! If you're going to fool around and not work, go home!"

I'm thinking, Bill(our supervisor)'s the only one with authority to send people home. Whatevers.

"I"m serious, I'll cut you with my cutter if you go messing up my piles!" she hissed angrily.

I was very taken aback. After the meeting, I decided to follow Rich and Artie and Co. to Men's after seeing Artie lose some things from his cart. I told Rich and the others what happened. In the meantime, Cheryl or whatever her name was wandered over to Men's and then back to Misses, but not before glaring at me and saying, "Don't you start on me!" Fortunately, Bill came walking by soon after. I told Bill all about it, and he was quite angry.

"We take these threats seriously- I'm not going to have any sort of incident on my shift!" he snarled. He angrily questioned cheryl, but naturally, she said she didn't threaten me with her knife. Bill told me that for my safety, I should work in Men's with Mike and Tin. Neither Bill nor I can wait for the holidays to be over, as Cheryl's temporary help, and she won't be here past the holidays.

He also told Dar all about it, so I expect the whole store will know eventually.

Cheryl apologised in the breakroom later...with some lame excuse ( where she basically repeated my explanation to her back at me). I made sure she wasn't holding anything in her other hand before shaking her proffered hand....which I let go of VERY quickly. I also washed my hands repeatedly. Why? I was concerned at the time what she might do in the parking lot when we got out of work. You can't reason with a crazy person. I find her extremely creepy. Actually, not just me, everyone has some sort of complaint about her. She even made Rich angry, and he never gets angry ever.

She did go home early...which was a relief, as again, I was worried what might happen in the parking lot if she and I were among the last few workers to leave.

It's really gone beyond anything I can do on my own. He's leash reactive, barrier aggressive, and possibly a touch food aggressive as well. I am NOT equipped nor experienced enough to fix it without a professional.

You might need to take a vacation week to work with him. What's the breed?

Have you tried a pinch collar? They are great for large or difficult to control dogs, it's blunt spikes that pinch into the skin around the throat. It isn't enough to injure, but it's just enough of an ouch to let the dog know you are SERIOUS.

Do you give him emotional (pets and "good boy"s as well as tangible (food) treats when he does something good?

Male dogs sometimes obey females better than males (which can be perceived as a reproductive competitor). How is his behavior around you different around men?

Is he neutered? If not--chop 'em.

Have you taken him to a vet to see if there is a health problem? Dogs in pain can be very grouchy, expecially if there is a problem with the mouth, eyes, or ears.

I agree with Pod about the pinch collar.It mimics the bite of a dominant dog. (I've been watching too much Dog Whisperer.) Or there's the Illusion collar that gives you more control of the dog. Maybe you can try leaving the leash on him around the house too, get him used to it and it gives you something to grab quickly to snap him out of whatever state of mind that he's in.

Not sure. The humane society guessed coonhound/beagle. I wouldn't be surprised if he was purebred foxhound. But suffice to say, Big Ol' Hound Dog.

I try to. The problem I'm running into is, he's smart and figured out the game. He's always watching my treat hand.

Hmm. I'd approach it as if he's a beagle, which are smart, generally speaking, but once they get into bad habits it's exhausting to change them because they are the most stubborn animals (my in-laws have two, which are the only two dogs I've ever been able to say that I hate). You might consider enrolling in a training program. Petco usually offers classes in their stores. I'm not sure what the fees are, but I don't think they are too terribly bad (better than having to pay someone's medical bills and to have him put down if he does bite). In the mean time, you may want to keep him in a muzzle when around strangers or walking, just to play it safe.
