Chickenman 9 Posted October 7, 2004 Okay, I'm trying to decide what SW books to read. I'm not looking for reviews, just tell me what you think about them Will Read Shatterpoint Tatooine Ghost The Final Prophecy The Unifying Force Will NOT Read The Crystal Star Darksaber Splinter in the Mind's Eye So, what about the rest? TFP, TUF and TG I havn't read. Shatterpoint is amazing though. Crystal Star I havn't read, though from what I've heard, it contradicts continuity more than any other EU book. (Something about another dimension) Darksaber, I havn't read, though I do have it. I looks okayish, though I'm getting tired of the whole superweapon thing. Splinter of the Mind's Eye was pretty good.
GreenEagle2005 0 Posted October 7, 2004 the only one I haven't read is Splinter in a mind's Eye... but all of the ones you want to read are Awesome.... the others were Ok, but no were near the caliber of writing that we see now in the SW universe. Cetus Deception was awesome....i loved the whole philosohpy behind it regarding the clones.
GI_Admiral 2 Posted October 7, 2004 Will Read Shatterpoint-Yay Tatooine Ghost-Yay The Final Prophecy-Yay The Unifying Force-Yay Will NOT Read The Crystal Star-Yanay ((Decent as well)) Darksaber-Yay Splinter in the Mind's Eye-Yanay ((It was decent)) I dont reallly not like any SW books...cept for CotJ and PoT
Mickey 1 Posted October 8, 2004 I think I've liked about every book I've read so far. I just have this blind love for anything star wars though, sometimes I think it may be a problem ... Anyways, I don't remember much of crystal star or darksaber that much, but I'm sure I liked them, I read them many years ago. I read splinter of the mind's eye not too long ago, liked that a fair bit. It really kinda took me back, since its such an oldie. My favorites were probably the Jedi Academy Trilogy, esp the part where they go skiing, that was swell ... I like skiing, in case you didn't notice
Uncle Du 22 Posted October 9, 2004 I say read 'em all. That's the easiest way for me to decide.
TheUnknown 39 Posted October 10, 2004 What about the books I didn't list (that was the point of this thread0?
Andy 60 Posted October 10, 2004 There's too many of them. We don't know which one's you have read, either. :p
GI_Admiral 2 Posted October 10, 2004 Errr no Children of the Jedi and no Planet of Twilight Err...mixed reactions on the Black Fleet Crisis series Mixed reactions on Bounty Hunter Wars series
Tsl 7 Posted October 10, 2004 Don't waste your time with Bounty Hunter Wars, Shadow of the Empire, or the Black Fleet Crisis (well, unless you want a good laugh at how badly they messed up the characterizations). The older Han Solo trillogy by Brian Daley is also very boring, IMO, but the newer one by AC Crispin is quite good. Do read anything by Aaron Allston, Michael Stackpole, Tim Zahn. And the Lando Calrission Adventures (or whatever it's called) is great! Absolutely hilarious. Oh, and that Han Solo Trillogy by Crispin I mentioned before. GI_Admiral 2 Posted October 10, 2004 (edited) Zahn, Stackpole, Allston are all good Shadow of the Empire was alright, kinda like Splinter...it's small filler thats legit enough to be continuity but not anything spectacular. I thought both Han Solo Trils and the lando tril were great. Edit: Tril = Trilogy...I swear that was my edit!! Andy 60 Posted October 10, 2004 You mean Allston, not Allison. But yes Allston is great! :D

TheUnknown 39 Posted October 13, 2004 What about the Medstar books and The New Rebellion?
Princess 35 Posted October 13, 2004 I'm in the middle of Medstar II right now. If you enjoy M*A*S*H you'll really enjoy the Medstar books. New Rebellion was a little out there in my thoughts, but it was still a good book.
GI_Admiral 2 Posted October 13, 2004 New Rebellion is a good book. Medstar Im only on the first. Can't tell you much about it, but so far it feels like a MASH type theme. ((havent been reading it lately :S))
