Princess 35 Posted October 26, 2004 And don't go voting based on movie character hotness factor...
Drake 53 Posted October 26, 2004 (edited) Definately The Silmarillion. I'll add that and the Unfinished Tales to the list. Edited October 26, 2004 by Drake
CorSec 5 Posted October 26, 2004 Good call CorSec. Thanks CorSec. Swoosh.
Tsl 7 Posted October 26, 2004 The Two Towers...though it's kind of unfair to break it up since The Lord of the Rings is all one book, really, lol.
Andy 60 Posted October 26, 2004 Technically FotR, TT, and RotK are all one book (that is what Tolkein intended anyways... But nevertheless, I have only managed to read half of FotR so far, so I can't vote. :p
Ender 8 Posted October 26, 2004 Return of the King. Most battles. Huge badassness factor.
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted October 27, 2004 i like the Hobbit. Smaug rox0rs
Mickey 1 Posted October 27, 2004 never could get through fellowship, I've got the whole LOTR saga and hobbit and some visual encyclopedia. But I'll be darned if I don't keep getting bored with fellowship. I'll finish it one day though

Drake 53 Posted October 27, 2004 Return of the King. Most battles. Huge badassness factor. Well...The Silmarillion has more and way better battles, lol.
Tsl 7 Posted October 27, 2004 Eh, the Lord of the Rings is story form, so it's a better read :p
Roethlisberger 0 Posted October 27, 2004 Return of the King. Most battles. Huge badassness factor. Well...The Silmarillion has more and way better battles, lol. But the Silmarillion is like a history book. It's not a story. And anyway, ROTK is the best. Of course, I'm the only one here judges something by its actual merits, as opposed to whether or not something in the book rox0rs or not. Anyway, the ROTK battles are the best written battles in Fantasy history. So ROTK wins.
Tsl 7 Posted October 27, 2004 . Of course, I'm the only one here judges something by its actual merits, as opposed to whether or not something in the book rox0rs or not. Who says? I appreciate LOTR as both a great literary work and a story which happens to r0xx0r, Mr. High 'n' Mighty
Drake 53 Posted October 27, 2004 And anyway, ROTK is the best. Of course, I'm the only one here judges something by its actual merits, as opposed to whether or not something in the book rox0rs or not. And how do you know that you're the only one? Hmm? *cough* Conceited! *cough*
Roethlisberger 0 Posted October 27, 2004 It seems like it from the comments. I guess I shouldn't have been conceited, but judging a book based on battles alone makes no sense to me.
Tsl 7 Posted October 27, 2004 Maybe people dont' feel like writing out an literary essay to justify all the reasons they prefer one book over another.
GI_Admiral 2 Posted October 27, 2004 I think you guys are kinda getting too upset over this. Everyone rates things differently. Just like in books you have different "criticisms" same with movies. I may like ____ for its plot while someone else may like it cause its ______ _____ as the lead character, and someone else may just like it cause of the special effects. I don't really wanna accuse you guys of anything, just it seems to me that you're taking this personally when it shouldnt be.
Mara 29 Posted October 27, 2004 Yeah, I'd go with the whole trilogy together....but since I had to pick, ROTK... I haven't read the Simarillion or Tales yet.
chozen 1 Posted October 27, 2004 The Two Towers. yeah..
Ender 8 Posted October 27, 2004 Anyway, the ROTK battles are the best written battles in Fantasy history. So ROTK wins. I guess you've never read The Wheel Of Time series by Robert Jordan... WoT sends LotR running scared in the battles part. Also, Fett, no one here is as obsessed with pop culture and all that junk as you are.
Tsl 7 Posted October 27, 2004 Hmm...I always see Wheel of Time books in the omni-discounted, nobody wanted these bin at the book store, so I've kinda steered clear of the series.
