Andy 60 Posted March 7, 2006 Due to the obscene amount of bots that are registering I have banned all email addresses from a couple of free service providers. These are: allhost.co.uk mail.ru If any current genuine members have an @allhost.co.uk or @mail.ru email account and experience any problems, please let me know. Thanks. Tsl 7 Posted March 7, 2006 Ugh, you have a bot infestation too?
Rogue 4 Posted March 7, 2006 yup....I'd say we do Kill the bots! Rawr!
Tsl 7 Posted March 7, 2006 I put in a visual confirmation thingy. Seems to have eliminated the problem so far. *shrugs*
Rogue 4 Posted March 7, 2006 Do we have a visual confirmation thingy B?
Andy 60 Posted March 7, 2006 (edited) We do, but they seem to be able to get past it. They (so far) haven't yet been able to post due to the code sent out in registration emails not being verified. But its getting annoying having to delete around 5 users a week because they are just spam bots attempting to register to post. Chickenman 9 Posted March 7, 2006 What if somebody who genuinely had one of those emails wanted to register?
Andy 60 Posted March 7, 2006 Then I'm sorry, but they should get a better host that doesn't like spammers :p
Princess 35 Posted March 8, 2006 Besides, don't we have it set so that banned members can post in here?
Princess 35 Posted March 8, 2006 If I remember correctly, anyone that we apply a "banned" mask to is allowed to post here in the senate only so that they may plead their case. That doesn't work if a mod suspends the account though, only if an admin does all the behind the scenes banningness
Rogue 4 Posted March 8, 2006 That's interesting. I didn't know that. Makes sense though.

Andy 60 Posted February 18, 2007 (edited) Getting annoyed! I have now banned all email addresses ending with .biz or .info  Edited February 18, 2007 by beeurd
Ana 15 Posted March 8, 2007 People have been spamming some of the blogs, as guests. Is there a way to remove those comments?
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted March 8, 2007 there's a checkbox under your blog settings that will disable guest posting
Ana 15 Posted March 8, 2007 It's not my blog... I don't have a GB blog. It's Rogue's and DarthDooku's blogs.
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted March 8, 2007 (edited) admins might be able to fix that, but if not, Rogue/Dooku will have to do it. EDIT: ok, mods can delete the individual comments, but can't get into the blog settings Edited March 8, 2007 by Sassy Fairy
Andy 60 Posted March 9, 2007 Dammit! lol Okay, there is no mass-delete option for blog comments. I have now disabled Guest commenting from the Admin panel.
