Mara 29 Posted May 18, 2007 I want Huckabee to be elected. We'd all be giggling half the time whenever someone said "President Huckabee." You just can't say it without smiling. We could all go around with "I ♥ Hucklebee!" just like that movie.
TheUnknown 39 Posted May 21, 2007 To me, "Huckabee" sounds like the brand nam for ham or tuna. Huckabee Hams.
Stephen 0 Posted May 21, 2007 I'm not sure who I'm voting for yet; it's too early now.
TheUnknown 39 Posted June 1, 2007 Drake has asked if Gore is running in another thread. The answer, as of now, is no. I would definitely consider him though, but for now, I'm leaning toward hoping for an Edwards-Richardson ticket.
Chickenman 9 Posted June 11, 2007 I would've loved Dean if he had run.
TheUnknown 39 Posted June 11, 2007 I hope he runs again sometime down the road a la Nixon, Gore, Gephardt, etc. If he had had better communication skills in adverserial settings (debates, interviews) he would have won the nomination and would have creamed Bush. Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted June 11, 2007 those debates and interviews are gonna kill you every time. even if you're the best candidate in the entire universe with the secret to world peace, the second you screw up on TV, you're dead. i don't think it's right, but that's the way it is. Drake 53 Posted June 12, 2007 Screw up on TV? Someone remind me how Bush got into office then?
TheUnknown 39 Posted June 12, 2007 Because the media liked him, hated Gore, therfore giving Bush better press time. Plus, Al Gore allowed himself to be pigeonholed by establishment Democratic consultants who don't know sith and are afraid of sounding "edgy" or...gasp..."liberal." Chickenman 9 Posted June 12, 2007 The Democrats have no ewoking clue how to run an election.
TheUnknown 39 Posted June 12, 2007 Correction, the establishment Democrats have no ewoking clue. Their idea is to pour un-Godly sums of money (raised in large part from corporations with stances opposed to typical Democratic goals of better labor and environmental standards) into the race to buy negative ads on TV. This is opposed to the strategy of the grassroots/netroots which is to create a strong grassroots presents, take true progressive stances, and rely on other forms of advertising, especially the media. I don't find it a bit surprising the most of the disappointments from the 2006 elections were in races in which the establishment Democrats were running things while most of the pleasant surprises were from grassroots campaigns. Ender 8 Posted June 12, 2007 I will say one thing: after watching The Daily Show a couple days ago, this Ron Paul fella actually seems quite reasonable and intelligent. More frighteningly, he's Republican. How's about that?
TheUnknown 39 Posted June 12, 2007 Actually, he's a Libertarian. He votes against ALL spending bills but then wants the federal government to spend money in his district.
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted June 12, 2007 hmmm.....tiny bit hypocritical, no?

Ana 15 Posted June 12, 2007 You know who should run? The judge who put Paris Hilton in jail. That's something Republicans and Democrats can get along on. He doesn't need a platform other than "I locked up Paris Hilton, however temporary it may be, because I believe that celebrities are not above the law." Chickenman 9 Posted June 12, 2007 Honestly? Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert would win.

TheUnknown 39 Posted June 13, 2007 Just saw a news story (see Gun Control thread) where the House passed a bill that would prevent mentally unstable people from buying guns, among other things. The lone "no" vote? Ron Paul.
