Darth Marius 0 Posted February 27, 2008 (edited) rebellions are shorter in time aren't they? Edited February 27, 2008 by Darth Marius
Drake 53 Posted February 27, 2008 rebellions are shorter in time aren't they? The Star Wars Rebellion lasted a couple decades...so no.
Winters 0 Posted February 27, 2008 Yes they are, and a rebellion doesn't change much but those in power; the American REVOLUTION changed everything from style of government to actual representation, which I love to death. I'm glad we're not a Parlmentary government.

I'm glad we're not a Parlmentary government. I would say that America had a rebellion before they had the revolution. The colonists rebelled agaisnt the British Empire, broke free of it's reign, THEN revolutionized their government and way of life.
Darth Marius 0 Posted February 27, 2008 I guess it just depends on what side your on. :usa:
Winters 0 Posted February 27, 2008 There have been Rebellions: Shay's Rebellion before the Revolution, I think... my early American history is kinda rough right now. Then the Wiskey rebellion, which showed the president would use whatever power necessary to keep America in check (only real thing Washtington really did). Darth Marius 0 Posted February 27, 2008 Well everyone belives that they are the freedom fighters fighting eachother for freedom. You can't win the only one that does is the gun runers. lol

Winters 0 Posted February 27, 2008 HEY! We don't change history! And also, of late, History is no longer being written by the winners, it's written by the common people. Yes, when it comes to large stuff, history is dictated by speeches and acts of politicans and generals, but Historians, thanks to Stephen Ambrose, are taking a closer look at the people who actually fight the battles and the little people, because they have their own story. Pandora 77 Posted February 28, 2008 I agree with Beeurd. It was a rebellion. And Canada was still owned by, who? *cough* France Your best friends, France. Sorry, but the US and France are BFFs, I'm afraid. Only because they're on the UN Security Counsel. Frankly, I'd rather have Drake backing me up in a fight. Please they would sell us out in a second if they thought that we wouldn't find out about it. I could say the same thing for one or two people running for president... No wait, I can say that about everyone running this term.

Sorry, but the US and France are BFFs, I'm afraid. Only because they're on the UN Security Counsel. Well I was thinking more along the lines of they helped you in the War of Independence ( aka the American Rebellion ), and gave you a giant copper statue which is now quite famous. ;)
Drake 53 Posted February 28, 2008 And Canada was still owned by, who? *cough* France Incorrect. You fail. The British Empire defeated the French for rule of the Canadian colonies during the Seven Years War, which ended in 1763. And it's quite hilarious how Americans seem to overlook the fact that their greatest symbol of freedom and liberty was a gift...from the French.
