GI_Admiral 2 Posted March 22, 2005 Eh...well...it's the same as Congress trying to arrest Bobby Fischer(sp? name? famous chess player...) for playing Chess in Yugoslavia when sanctions were still in place...

Alexander 0 Posted March 23, 2005 (edited) What else is new? Can't school shooters ever NOT like Hitler? Stalin, Mousillini, Kim Jong Il and Castro are just sitting there gathering dust. Edited March 23, 2005 by Alexander

TheUnknown 39 Posted March 25, 2005 These lawmakers really need to get their heads out of their asses Well, we are talking about the same party that tries to tell competent, consenting adults who they can and can't marry, when they can end their marriage, what sexual positions they use, and who they can and can't have sex with. I'm not surprised.
Drake 53 Posted March 25, 2005 Martin, Bush and Fox meet to discuss strengthening North America It's good that they're working on strengthening the continent. I'm disappointed that nothing was done about trade issues...like the US pretty much blocking all of Canada's major trade products from crossing the border. GI_Admiral 2 Posted March 25, 2005 Yeah ....too bad they didnt get rid of NAFTA

Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted March 25, 2005 NAFTA is just an excuse for big businesses to move jobs out of the US to places where the standards on working conditions aren't as strict, restrictions are lower, and they can pay their workers next to nothing. Drake 53 Posted March 25, 2005 Would you rather have everyone suffer by having high trade tariffs?
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted March 25, 2005 (edited) if it means cutting down on sweat shops and child labor and having better working conditions. Edited March 25, 2005 by Phantom Thief Dark
GI_Admiral 2 Posted March 25, 2005 Yes I'd Rather have tarrifs...Not raising super high tarriffs but enough to keep businesses from just leaving the States and going to Mexico to pay people less money for more working hours under probably worse conditions... not everyone would suffer...it would truly depend on each person. Drake 53 Posted March 25, 2005 Not just Mexico but Canada too. All of the big American businesses would pull out and our economy would crash.
Princess 35 Posted March 25, 2005 And our economy is crashing because all of our jobs are going down to Texaco :p

Andy 60 Posted March 26, 2005 it'll even itself out eventually, if you think about it. The companies leaving the developed countries for cheap labour are providing a boost to the ecomomies of the places they move too. Given a couple decades, they will probably be moving back because the labour cost will no longer be low enough to outweigh other costs.
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted March 26, 2005 (edited) i'm all for helping other countries out. but we need to focus on America and make sure America is doing well before we send money and/or jobs out of the country. it doesn't do us any good to boost the economies of other countries like Mexico and Canada if our own isn't doing very well. and most Americans aren't going to care that we've helped a less fortunate nation if they can't find a job to support their family since all the jobs are going abroad. Andy 60 Posted March 26, 2005 Hey I didn't say that was why people moved away. They move away simply to save money. That is all.
