Schiavo autopsy shows no signs of trauma

An autopsy on

Terri Schiavo backed her husband's contention that she was in a persistent vegetative state, finding that she had massive and irreversible brain damage and was blind, the medical examiner's office said Wednesday. It also found no evidence that she was strangled or otherwise abused.

...

"The brain weighed 615 grams, roughly half of the expected weight of a human brain," he said. "This damage was irreversible, and no amount of therapy or treatment would have regenerated the massive loss of neurons."

Wow. Shockers.

Of course, this will do nothing to placate the psycho idiots that tried to bring her fast food and bottled water.

Hmm, seems the UK is considering a "US-style" school bus system.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/4095276.stm

I hope they don't do them yellow. No offence meant, but yellow school buses are one of the most instantly recognisable symbols of America.

UK TV presenter Richard Whiteley has died aged 61. :(

He presented a show called "Countdown" which was originally the first show ever to appear on Channel 4, and is the only one of the original programmes still running. He presented the show for it's entire run and was well known for his terrible jackets, 1,000s of ties and wigs with slightly different hair lengths.

I don't think they'll ever be able to find a perfect replacement.

Terry Fox TV movie being made

I'm so happy that they're making a movie out of this for the 25th anniversary of Terry's heroic run. I'm also happy that they put a big name actor for the role of Terry. I've seen production clips and Shawn Ashmore is doing a really good job in his portrayal. I'm just disappointed that it will only be shown on TV and not on the big screen.

It would be nice to have Terry's story put out to the rest of the world since I doubt many of you American-types would know about it...except maybe for those who are close to the border. Anyway, for those who don't know who Terry Fox is, he was an athelete who was diagnosed with cancer. He had to have his right leg amputated. He then decided to run from coast to coast in order to raise money for cancer research. He started in Newfoundland in 1980 and ran 3 339 miles for 143 days despite the pain. He made it to Thunder Bay, Ontario before his cancer spread throughout his body and he died. Every year since, they hold the Terry Fox Run in which thousands of Canadians run to raise money for cancer research.
