Poll #93 - Forum Skin

So I'm working on v2 of the default skin.

If you have changed it back to the previous skin, and would like to refresh your memories of the new default skin. At the bottom of the page there is a skin selector, with currently two options available to members:

- GB Phoenix (deprecated)

- GB Community (v1.0)

I'll let you figure out which is which.

I realise there was a bit of dislike of the new theme, so what would make it better for v2?

Let me know all your thoughts on this matter so I can make it as awesome as possible.

I've been using the new theme, since you first put it up, because I'm not a baby.

Anyway, I would say a little darker with some more red.

I'm getting an error as well. I voted for other. I use the Phoenix skin. I like the colors of the new skin in general, but it feels very basic to me.

Guys, Beeurd didn't ask if you liked the old skin better. He asked what you would want done to improve the new skin. That means switching to it and really checking it out more than just a cursory "Ow, it makes my eyes bleed" glance.

The new skin is supposed to be more neutral and less Star Warsy. Give some suggestions to make that one better, while still remaining neutral.

and i didn't say i liked the Pheonix skin better, even though i do. my suggestion was to make the default skin similar to Pheonix with darker colors, and i'd like to see some orange in it.

Then what point would there be in altering the default theme when it would just be altering Pheonix slightly? :p

I get a fatal error too.

For the Community skin, I'd make it darker. I'd replace the grey with a dark sand colour, and white text. Header bars and such would be a sort of blue green

with light grey text. Any other colourings would be a reddish orange.

For GB phoenix, I'd make the blue slightly darker, and replace the red with a deep bronze.

I had mentioned before that there is a fatal error sometimes on voting in a poll... It still records your vote though.

Listen to the advice of the artist. They tend to know their colours. :p

I honestly like it how it is, all neutral.

But I suppose the blues could be darkened slightly. But not too much-- some people like lighter colors and we don't want to scare people away if the default is too dark.

How about doing a dark blue and red like there is now for Phoenix and just changed the header to a banner with different characters and things that we all like?

I like Furday's suggestion. I can see having it a darker with an ivory like text and then having a sierra effect with the background.
