Andy 60 Posted September 4, 2008 Sequels are notorious for being terrible, but are there any films that you think excelled themselves in a sequel? Might turn this into a like a chart of GBs most popular sequels Personally, my nominations are: Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes BackThe Dark KnightTerminator 2: Judgement Day Prolly more where those came from too. :p
TheUnknown 39 Posted September 4, 2008 (edited) Return of the Jedi was better than A New Hope, also. X2: X-Men United Edited September 4, 2008 by TheUnknown Screwed up the tags
Drake 53 Posted September 4, 2008 I still can't decide which of the Back to the Future movies I like best...so let's go with all of them. And, for some reason, I liked Home Alone 2 more than the first.
Chickenman 9 Posted September 4, 2008 Aliens was great. Not better than Alien, but definitely up there.
Winters 0 Posted September 4, 2008 Does LOTR: ROTK count? Because that was a work of art... Can I add Episode III when compared to being a sequal of Episodes I and II?
Andy 60 Posted September 4, 2008 (edited) If you want, but it was worse than Episode I. (apart from the Vader-kicking-arse bits) lol Edited September 4, 2008 by Andy
Winters 0 Posted September 4, 2008 How is it worse than Episode I when Episode I had POLITICS! And Episode III had obscene amounts of Clones fighting and dying!
Andy 60 Posted September 4, 2008 I like to be controversial. I love TPM. The GOOD parts of AotC and RotS are AWESOMETASTIC; but the BAD parts drag it down to mediocre. And both Eps II and III had politics too. So shush. :p
Chickenman 9 Posted September 4, 2008 Episodes 1, 2 and 3 all had a ton of politics. Episode 1 also had the gungans, reduced the greatest villain in all of movie history into a whiny kid, and had gungans.
Andy 60 Posted September 4, 2008 And, if I hadn't have loved it, this site wouldn't exist. So respect TPM, or else. :p
Winters 0 Posted September 4, 2008 I'm sorry... but Episode I had Jar Jar Binks, the biggest mistake in Star Wars since... since... the Christmas Special!
Chickenman 9 Posted September 4, 2008 You've never even seen the Christmas Special. But yeah, it's horrendous. :p
Winters 0 Posted September 4, 2008 I stay away from it on purpose!
Andy 60 Posted September 4, 2008 I'm sorry... but Episode I had Jar Jar Binks, the biggest mistake in Star Wars since... since... the Christmas Special! Surely you mean, since ewoks?
Winters 0 Posted September 4, 2008 No, Ewoks are better than Jar jar Binks, it's that extreme, that I have to say... yes, worse than those little bears!
TheUnknown 39 Posted September 4, 2008 Agreed. Ewoks helped win the battle.
Drake 53 Posted September 4, 2008 Perhaps he was referring to the Ewoks movies/animated series.
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted September 4, 2008 And, if I hadn't have loved it, this site wouldn't exist. So respect TPM, or else. the Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan/Darth Maul lightsaber brawl at the end was pretty awesome.
Bad furday 57 Posted September 4, 2008 Rush Hour 2 I have never seen an entire theater laugh so much as at that showing. Rush Hour 3 was not that great. It had its moments...but seemed tired out.
Mara 29 Posted September 4, 2008 I agree with The Dark Knight. And with Rush Hour 2. And the Lord of the Rings films, especially Return of the King. I want to mention Star Wars, but my ratings of them always slip back and forth in order. So meh. SpiderMan 2 was better than the first. And better than the third. I think Prince Caspian was better than LWW, but slightly. Mission Impossible 3 was good, way better than the second, but not better than the first film. Chickenman 9 Posted September 5, 2008 Spiderman 2 wasn't better than the first Spiderman, and Spiderman 3 sucked.
Andy 60 Posted September 5, 2008 I thought all 3 of them sucked. :p
Mara 29 Posted September 5, 2008 That's just your opinion.
Chickenman 9 Posted September 5, 2008 Which...is what we're all expressing in this thread. So...shut up. :p
Chickenman 9 Posted December 1, 2008 I haven't seen Godfather 2, but I've heard it's even better than the first, so I'll throw the name out there.
