Ender 8 Posted December 24, 2009 It's nice not being in debt... I wouldn't know, considering I'm two months behind on my rent.
Princess 35 Posted December 24, 2009 *sits in a booth and puts her feet up* I've been baking since 2pm and I just sat down. I did a double batch of cinnamon rolls, helped my dad with nuts and bolts and a loaf of Irish Soda Bread.
Bad furday 57 Posted December 24, 2009 *collapses in booth* 8 1/2 hour shift is now over...go back to work on Saturday. Doesn't feel like today's christmas eve, but my circadian rhythm is all messed up. :shifty:
Uncle Du 22 Posted December 24, 2009 Dude, a friend of mine is a store manager for PacSun in Boca (FL), he didn't get outta work till 4:30 this morning. Apparently corporate is making all stores do a unique floorset for Christmas Eve, THEN, after they close today, they have to do ANOTHER NEW floorset for the day after Christmas. Friggin' ridiculous. Ayingel 24 Posted December 25, 2009 well, most of our presents for today are booze. sad thing is, i don't know if anyone is going to make it to my uncle's to trade presents to receive such booze. and as much as i'd like to enjoy the bottle of champagne that's part of my contribution, i'd prefer to pretend that someone wanted to give me a present
Princess 35 Posted December 25, 2009 We had Christmas with my dad's family last night. It was a mix of happy and sad because Grandma wasn't there but it was great watching my 6 month old cousin open his presents for the first time. He loved the giftwrap more than the presents and while his mom was waiting her turn to open her gifts (we open from youngest to oldest) he managed to get off the curling ribbon that I'd wrapped tightly around her gift. But it was sad without Grandma. We all had cash gifts from her because her and my aunt had talked it over before she went into the hospital. Then after everyone had opened their gifts, we watched the DVD that we're going to be playing at the funeral. But, while we've been getting ready for the funeral, we've found some very cool historical documents. My Grandpa served on the destroyer the USS Sproston in the Pacific during WWII. We have pictures that he took being stationed in Hawaii, pictures of Japanese equipment and dead Japs from Attu Island. Pictures of Grandpa standing in front of his 50 cal gun. We also found the card from when we Crossed the Equator and the certificate for Crossing the 180th Meridian. Very cool stuff that was down in a trunk in Grandma's basement. We have some of the pictures scanned and I'll have to show them off someday.
Drake 53 Posted December 25, 2009 He has pictures of dead Japanese? You can leave those ones out, thanks. :p
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted December 25, 2009 That's really cool stuff about your grandfather, Prin. Rob's dad was an Air Force pilot on WWII, and his plane had to land on Iwo Jima before the Allies took it. Those kinds of memories should definitely be preserved. Uncle Du 22 Posted December 25, 2009 Wow Prin, you're grand dad was a Golden Shellback?! That's awesome! And that you have the certificates makes it even more incredible! These days, there aren't very many sailors who cross both those lines any more. You should make a shadow box for all his stuff.
Princess 35 Posted December 27, 2009 (edited) Mmmmm cheesecake. And the next time I get on my dad's PC, I'll show you some of the pics babe. You'll enjoy them. The 180th Meridian picture doesn't fit our scanner so I may have to take it somewhere to get scanned Edited December 27, 2009 by Princess
Princess 35 Posted December 28, 2009 There, I finally got my thoughts down onto paper for the funeral tomorrow and my dad cried when he read it. Now I just have to get through tomorrow. I had a hard enough time getting through today. *buys a round of drinks in honor of her grandma*
