Uncle Du 22 Posted January 12, 2010 I don't think any one's knitting skills are good enough to make a set of impenetrable MJOLNIR armor. :p
Princess 35 Posted January 12, 2010 Maybe I'll have to try some magic.

Princess 35 Posted January 13, 2010 Yay! Drinks on JM! *pours a Maw on her* I finished the striped scarf hat I was working on for my mom yesterday. My neighbor had to show me the proper way to tear out stitches without losing the entire scarf.
Pandora 77 Posted January 13, 2010 *Comes in quite unexpectedly, with no fanfare and crashes into a seat next to Prin* So, I'm chatting with Andy and filling him in on all the important stuff, and this was his punchline: Andy says: lol, i'm not laughing at you applying for mental institutions Mrs. Gilbert says: ... Andy says: it's that applying for them reminded you of GB And just to be clear, I wasn't applying for admission to a mental institution, I'm actually job-hunting. Pandora 77 Posted January 13, 2010 Hey guys! *covers her hears* No alarms please! I just wanted to quietly slip in for a bit and let you guys know that I may be heading to C5. Hubby still has no real clue how much of a nerd I am...
Princess 35 Posted January 13, 2010 Then you need to spend more time here to show him what a geek you are.
Pandora 77 Posted January 13, 2010 Wow I obviously haven't used the Force in a while because I didn't see that one coming Actually, New Year's Eve, my brother-in-law came over with somer friends. TOTAL nerds, right? And the worst part of it was, I was the coolest and the geekiest at the same time. I was the coolest because I was the only chick, and the geekiest because that was when I saw that C5 was in Orlando and NO ONE else was as excited as me. Bad furday 57 Posted January 13, 2010 *lowers the alarm volume down to acceptable levels* Good! This may be quite the GB turnout at C5 :D
Pandora 77 Posted January 13, 2010 I hope we can, but it's too soon to tell. It looks like I'll be losing my job within the next two months and it's hard to break into a new field when you don't have your degree yet. Let's just hope all of these 7p-7a shifts that I've applied for are hurting for qualified applicants...
Princess 35 Posted January 13, 2010 Good luck with that

Uncle Du 22 Posted January 14, 2010 Thanks for the well wishes, and I never really leave, Mara.... I just lurk. LOL. Good luck with the job thing. Found out on Monday that I didn't get another job, thanks to my DUI. It's just crazy that the Federal government finds me trustworthy enough to hold a clearance for years on end, but a county jail doesn't want me 'cause I did something stupid over 7 years ago. Ah well.
Princess 35 Posted January 14, 2010 I had a relative who pled guilty to DUI in North Carolina where she was forced to blow 5 times to register as drunk. She was going to fight it but there was something weird going on in the court that do, so she just pled guilty and paid her fine. She had moved back to Michigan since then and when she asked if there was anything else that she needed to do, she was told no, unless she was going to get a NC driver's license. So, this past year she went to renew her driver's license and couldn't because she was in the national database because she hadn't completed the required counseling and drug testing by the state of North Carolina. This was 15 years after the DUI and she was told she didn't need to do anything besides pay the fine. So, I know how those things can sneak up from the past. Uncle Du 22 Posted January 14, 2010 Yea. I know I completed all my sith. The crazy thing is this: I went to the DA's office last week to do my fingerprints and background check, and the detective I talked to had a record of me getting pulled over for the DUI, but never getting convicted. I asked him if that would affect my getting the job and he said he didn't know, that it was up to the warden. The warden called me last week and asked if I could do something to get it expunged, but states aren't in the habit of just taking a DUI off someone's record. They don't usually do it, and to even try I would have to hire a lawyer. Which I sure as hell don't have the money for.
