Ayingel 24 Posted September 18, 2011 *Orders a large drink* Wedding planning is tough work. Mostly because I have too many things that I like.

TheUnknown 39 Posted September 18, 2011 Just email it to the class. What level are these students anyway? Is this an intro class or upper division? It's an intro class. Most of these students are fresh out of high school.

Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted September 18, 2011 A word to the wise about wedding planning. Remember that the important thing is the joining of two lives. Once you realize the important part is the marriage and not the wedding, things are a lot less stressful. Not to say you can't have a nice wedding. But don't let the little details consume you, and certainly don't break the bank for what's not going to matter a year from now.
Pandora 77 Posted September 18, 2011 Just email it to the class. What level are these students anyway? Is this an intro class or upper division? It's an intro class. Most of these students are fresh out of high school. *headdesk* worst. Papers. Ever. My intro class has a 50% fail rate. And we talk soooo slooooow.
TheUnknown 39 Posted September 18, 2011 I have the multiple choice portions graded. Only one perfect score out of 53. The mean is about a 76-77.
Princess 35 Posted September 19, 2011 Is there a curve?
TheUnknown 39 Posted September 19, 2011 Yes and no. For the multiple choice portion, you get what you got. For the short answer and essay portions, the professor gave us a range that are averages should be within.
Pandora 77 Posted September 19, 2011 God I love psychology. We are expert statisticians but when it comes to curving grades, we say, "Screw you, put up or shut up." :p
Princess 35 Posted September 19, 2011 I liked my intro to micro class, the teacher curved the mean of the test scores up to an 85 so I got pissy when the dumb people started dropping it

Pandora 77 Posted September 19, 2011 Hey I'll celebrate! I just got an A on my first Psychotherapy paper! But now I'll engage in some self-pity. Freaking lounged around all weekend reading and now I feel twenty years older. Vitality of youth my ass.
Pandora 77 Posted September 19, 2011 I have an entry for the Student-with-an-awful-name contest.... Slay. Is the first name. Slay. Someone's mother should be slapped. Repeatedly. Slay. Really????
TheUnknown 39 Posted September 19, 2011 Did you see the horrible name I found (although not one of my students)? Faggetter.
Pandora 77 Posted September 19, 2011 That one is tragic; wasn't it a last name? You can't really pick a last name. I've got some kids with names that could sort of by normal but have retarded spellings. Like Payshence. *headdesk*
TheUnknown 39 Posted September 19, 2011 I've heard of someone with a name pronounced "Shuh-hee-uh" but spelled "Sh*thead."
Pandora 77 Posted September 19, 2011 *shakes head* I'd like to do a study... the impact of dumbass names on career success. There is just no WAY these people are taken seriously...
TheUnknown 39 Posted September 19, 2011 Heh. A student is confusing "Sedition" with "Sedation." So, John Adams passed the Sedation Act!
