Pandora 77 Posted November 7, 2011 Yeah, all the really "hard drugs do." But hey. In the name of academia? :p
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted November 8, 2011 It seems most famous scientists/philosophers/musicians/etc were thought to be on drugs, insane, or both.
Pandora 77 Posted November 8, 2011 Actually... You know the saying, "it's a fine line between genius and insanity?" There is a very high prevalence of psychological disorders in populations of extremely gifted people. Lincoln suffered from depression, Axl Rose is bipolar, Van Gogh was also believed to be bipolar, Samual Taylor Coleridge was addicted to opium, and so on. There's a model of psychology for describing the causes of substance abuse disorders, and one of them is the self-medicating principle, that some people take drugs or drink in an attempt to moderate some mood disorder or enhance their performance further. In psychopathology (e.g., mood disorders like depression and bipolar I & II) often copresent with substance abuse, and it's usually impossible to tell which came first. Mad Wook 0 Posted November 8, 2011 Though noone seems to agree, I think Chinese Democracy was a pretty good album. But to be fair, someone had given me a copy a couple years before it came out so I was bored with it by the time it was released. Pandora, is your screen name related to The Vampire Chronicles? Probably a stupid question.
Princess 35 Posted November 8, 2011 (edited) Yes, that is how she picked her name. Was on a big Anne Rice kick a couple of years ago, but we all still call her Pod anyways :p Edited November 8, 2011 by Princess

But to be fair, someone had given me a copy a couple years before it came out so I was bored with it by the time it was released. Pandora, is your screen name related to The Vampire Chronicles? Probably a stupid question. I liked Chinese Democracy, but I hate referring to them as GNR without Slash. It's more like Axl N 3 Other Dudes. And yes, Pandora is from Rice's character. I started as Podracer838 over at the SW.com message boards years and years ago. Yes, that is how she picked her name. Was on a big Anne Rice kick a couple of years ago, but we all still call her Pod anyways And now you know why I go by Pod. I really should change that back at some point.... Any stomach remedies in the bar? D: Grandma says scotch keeps her from getting an upset stomach, but I think she said that to confuse my gullible aunt. ;)
