I hope it's nothing serious, but my dad picked her up this morning to take her down to Rochester to see if our mechanic can find out what's wrong. I hope the prognosis is good. TheUnknown 39 Posted December 8, 2011 Hooray, Unknown! So, what was the premise of your thesis? So, there's a phenomenon in voting behavior called roll-off. Basically, not everyone who goes to the polls votes in every race, and fewer votes tend to be cast as you work your way down the ballot compared to contests higher up the ballot. My thesis is looking at how Georgia's voting machines have affected roll-off. The machines were implemented statewide in 2002 and have a screen that allows voters to review their ballot. This screen highlights in red contests that you didn't cast a vote in. So, does that screen cause people to go back and vote? I think it does, and the first cut of my data agrees. For example, Appling County had 20% roll-off for Labor Commissioner in 1998. In 2010, the roll-off for the same race in the same county was 4%.
