Disney has announced that Star Wars: Attack Squadrons has been cancelled during beta testing.The game, which was heavily reminiscent of the classic Rogue Squadron series of games, promised a free to play multiplayer space combat experience in your web browser. Revealed in December 2013 Attack Squadrons was in the beta testing phase of development, but has apparently been shut down to focus on other Star Wars gaming experiences. Area 52 Games, are a first time developer who were responsible for the development of the game, and it is as yet unclear what impact this cancellation will have on the games studio.     Star Wars: Attack Squadrons revealed

    The game, which looks as though it will have a similar feel to the Rogue Squadron series of games, will feature multiplayer battles with up to 16 players and allow players to take control of and even customise iconic starfighters of the galaxy. The developer, newcomers Area 52 Games, say that multiplayer battles rather than story driven missions will make up the majority of gameplay, and that the game will have a free-to-play model, which suggests that micro-transactions will likely be included in the game.
