  1. The creative duo behind the hit TV show Game of Thrones have reportedly stepped away from Star Wars, according to a report by Deadline. David Benioff and DB Weiss joined the Star Wars family with much fanfare earlier this year, to head up a new series of films starting in 2022. Rumours had circulated that the film was to be based in the Old Republic era, possibly an adaptation of the beloved Knights of the Old Republic RPG games. The pair have cited their reason for leaving the project as being due to commitments with their recent $200 million Netflix deal which would require attention that they felt would not leave them able to focus fully on Star Wars. We love Star Wars. There are only so many hours in the day, and we felt we could not do justice to both Star Wars and our Netflix projects. So we are regretfully stepping away. David Benioff & DB Weiss In response to the news Kathleen Kennedy has left the door open for their return in the future, but despite this apparent setback there is no shortage of other Star Wars projects in the works; with Kevin Feige becoming involved recently and the Rian Johnson trilogy not completely off the cards (yet). There are also TV projects in the works, such as the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Cassian Andor series, and of course The Mandalorian which launches with Disney+ on 12 November, and video game Jedi: Fallen Order also releasing in November.
